Behavioral therapy is an effective form of intervention for many behavioral and emotional problems. It is done in the home, school, or community. The aim is to modify a person’s behavior to change the frequency, severity and intensity of behaviors. Ideally these interventions are practiced and modeled for the family to provide tools necessary to continue the plan and modify behavior on an ongoing basis.
Behavioral therapy at CFCG will begin with observations in the home. Target behaviors will be identified, and factors that influence the behavior will be noted. These observations will then be taken to the treatment team who will design an individualized behavior intervention plan to modify the behavior. The behaviorist will assist parents or others in the home to implement the plan by modeling, reinforcing, and providing feedback.
