Dr. Nicole Joseph received her Masters and Doctorate from The American School of Professional Psychology, at Argosy University in Washington, DC. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings since 2003. Clinical work experience includes: working in private homes with autistic children, in residential treatment settings with children and adolescents, in the child and adult services divisions of community mental health organizations (including with Fairfax and Loudoun Counties), and in solo, independent practice.
Her goal is to partner with you and work as a team to improve your quality of life. Although Dr. Joseph specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), she also uses other approaches to individualize and customize therapy work. Currently, Dr. Joseph sees adults, couples, families, and children (6+). Special therapy interests include Parent Guidance, Divorce, and Life Transitions, Marital Therapy, Anxiety Disorders, Gender Queer/Gender Questioning/Dysphoria/Transgender, LGBTQIA, Eating Disorders (training in CBT-E approach), and coping with medical conditions. She also specializes in working with State Department employees and Diplomatic Security Agents.
Dr. Joseph has been quoted in the news and as an expert Psychologist for media outlets such as USA Today, Northern Virginia Magazine, Lifetime Movie Network, and Discovery. She was a freelance writer and blogger for Discovery Channel’s Fit & Health website. She was also a past, frequent guest on NPR’s Diane Rehm’s Show. Dr. Joseph joined CFCG in May of 2010 and is licensed in the states of Virginia and Montana.
