Dr. Richard David earned his degrees from George Washington University where he trained in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy for various age levels. He has over 25 years of experience working with relationship and behavioral issues as well as, Mood Disorders and low self-esteem. Dr. David also has experience working with children, adolescents and adults in areas of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while using mindfulness as an important therapeutic tool.
Dr. David is a first generation product of Middle Eastern parents that stressed the traditional old world values and urged the continuation of certain traditions. This experience created useful tools in therapy that allow Dr. David to work with families who may struggle with integrating old and new school values. He believes counseling is a collaborative learning experience combining therapeutic skills and a client’s curiosity about self and others with a desire to change old patterns.
Dr. David varied in many facets that have assisted him in his therapy career. He is a trained Yoga instructor by Swami Vishnudevanda, as well as a scuba diving instructor. It is with these skills that he learned the techniques of breath control, progressive relaxation and mind-body connection, which he now uses as therapeutic tools. He has traveled to India, The Middle East, and Southeast Asia. He lives in the area and enjoys raising Bonsai plants, gardening and most importantly raising his grandson.
Dr. David looks forward to working with you along your journey. He offers 30-minute consultations to ensure that there is a dynamic fit between himself and potential client.
