Dr. Emily Wilson received a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in Comparative Human Development from the University of Chicago. Her professional career spans social work, university teaching, research, and public communications. Her journey has shaped her holistic approach to therapy and mental health, where she believes in treating the whole person and not just the symptoms. Dr. Wilson has been trained in a number of clinical therapies, including Mindfulness Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and psychoanalysis. She views mental health as a path toward greater wholeness, emphasizing self-awareness, healing, and personal growth. She draws on her experiences and academic work in human development and psychosocial studies to work with individuals from all walks of life with empathy and insight.
Dr. Wilson is a Supervisee in Clinical Social Work (VA License: 0906016521) under the Supervision of Peter Gross, LCSW (VA License: 0904002144) at the Child & Family Counseling Group.
Availability: Available to work with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Currently scheduling Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings.
