What is Spravato?

Spravato is esketamine (S-enantiomer of racemic ketamine) is a nonselective, noncompetitive N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist. The mechanism by which it exerts its antidepressant effect is unknown. The major circulating metabolite noresketamine demonstrated activity at the same receptor with less affinity. Esketamine SPRAVATO™ is the first nasal spray approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat depression in adults who have not found relief with other antidepressants. (In short summary, if other antidepressants have not worked for you, Spravato may be a great treatment to relieve depressive symptoms.) Emails us to find out more: [email protected]  

Is Spravato right for me?

Adults aged 18 and over who suffer from moderate-severe depression and/or suicidal ideation that have not had success with traditional treatments for depression are eligible for esketamine treatment. Our comprehensive evaluation will include a medical history, and basic lab results to ensure esketamine is safe for you.

What is the process to start esketamine treatment for depression?

* 60-minute evaluation with one of our psychiatrists with expertise in treatment-resistant depression to determine if esketamine is the best treatment for you.

* Evaluation of basic lab results to ensure esketamine is safe for you.

* Processing of your insurance. (Although our practice is self-pay, we will process a claim to see if insurance will cover the cost of your Spravato medication.)

* The initial administration of the esketamine treatment. (2-hour monitoring period for each visit)

* Twice weekly ketamine administration for 4 weeks with follow-up treatments as recommended by psychiatrist. A typical case would be 8-12 treatments over 4-6 weeks.

* Follow-up care as recommended by our clinical experts.

* Private treatment rooms available. 

How much does esketamine cost?

We understand that cost is an important factor in starting treatment. Please contact our administrative team for information on costs associated with Spravato treatment. 

Although we are out of network providers for all services rendered. We do provide a statement of services that you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Please note the quoted office visit cost does NOT include the cost of the drug itself. Your insurance may cover the cost of the medication itself, and there are additional resources through Janssen Carepath and Johnson & Johnson. Our team at CFCG will assist you along with insurance and pharmacy coordination along the way.
